The Prophet Greater than Moses!

In Deuteronomy (D'varim) Moses told the Israelites that the Lord would raise up for you a prophet like Moses from among them, from their own people. They were and still are to pay attention to Him so who is he?

  • He was born into a Jewish Torah observant household

  • His parents were Yosef and Miriam, both Jewish names

  • He was born in Bethlehem also known at that time as the City of David the former King of Israel

  • His family history was known and He was a descendant of Abraham and David

  • He was given a Jewish name, Yeshua, meaning 'salvation'

  • His parents offered a sacrifice at the Temple in Jerusalem according to the commandment in the  Torah

  • He was circumcised on the eighth day like all Jewish boys

  • From age 12 He attended the three pilgrim feasts of Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot each year in the Temple

  • He lived as a unique rabbi with Jewish disciples - talmidim

  • He taught in synagogues

  • He taught using various rabbinic teaching methods such as parables and hints

  • He upheld the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings of the Hebrew Bible which was His Bible

  • He wore tzitzits as commanded by the Torah

  • He made it clear to those who would accept it that He was the Messiah promised in the Torah, Prophets and Writings of the Hebrew Bible

  • He was born Jewish, He died Jewish and was crucified with a sign above His head saying 'The King of the Jews'

  • He will return to this earth in the future as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David.

This background has massive implications for both Jews and Christians!
